What is Naviance? 
Naviance is a college access tool that allows educators to supplement their work in addressing college and career readiness. Naviance use should be aligned to BCPSS CCR curriculum as much as possible. The Counseling Binder can be accessed at www.bcpss.org (Baltimore City School Counselor Resources - Resources - School Counseling Binder)​. 

My favorite tools in Naviance:
  • Career Interest Profiler: an online career interest assessment for students based on Holland's interest codes (Realistic, Investigative, Artistic, Social, Enterprising, Conventional)
  • Career Cluster Finder: an online assessment that helps students discover career clusters that may be a good match based on their personal qualities and interests
  • Naviance SuperMatch: a tool that helps students discover or narrow down their college choices based on a "fit" score
  • Resume Creator
  • Scattergram
  • Sending Mass E-mails (must update in Naviance, and IC: Census - People - Email)
  • eDocs

A completed college application has 2 parts ......

Student Portion

  • College application
  • Application fee
  • Essay
  • Sending SAT/ACT scores
  • Sending teacher recommendations (via Naviance)
  • Matching Common App to Naviance 

Counselor Portion

  • Send transcript (initial, mid, and final) with the student's current courses listed (via Naviance)
    • Must have a signed transcript release form from parent/guardian (record via Naviance Transcript Request Manager)
  • Counselor recommendation (via Naviance)

How to access Naviance?
  • The counselor link is: www.succeed.naviance.com
  • The student link can be found by clicking: Connections - Naviance Student. Make sure to review Optional Features, Customize Welcome Messages, and create Custom Links
How to request letter of recommendation?
  • Counselors must register teachers in Naviance via: Setup - User Admin
  • Counselors should train teachers on how to submit their letters of recommendations in Naviance. Counselors should also teach students the process

Do not upload transcripts one by one, use the Multiple Transcript Manager! To add a report card with the mid year transcript, use www.pdfmerge.com.
